On Wednesday, September 25, I took my first trip to Keokuk to meet with Talbot Sober Living. They are an amazing reentry and recovery organization located in an old convent. Very positive place helping men and women rebuild their lives. (and they even have a pool table!)
My journeys to update the resource guide have included visits with DOC reentry and parole staff. This step is important so that we can provide the most accurate information possible. Thus far, we have met with staff from the 1st, 6th, 7th and 8th judicial districts.
That sounds like a wonder place! I had heard about it from the father of a past member of Inside Out who lives in Keokuk. The work you are doing is so important for reentering citizens. It seems to me that our state government should have made available many years ago the information you have worked so tirelessly to compile. Having a compassionate person as yourself to make personal visits to various agencies is invaluable. Thanks for all you do!
